The cotton from Agrocel in northern India is both organic and fairtrade. The price the farmers are paid for the cotton is not based on the world market price, which can be highly fluctuating, but on the actual cost of living.

When the cotton arrives at Agrocel, the first step is to separate the fibres from the seeds, a process called ginning. After that, the cotton is washed, pressed in bales and sent away for spinning.

The cotton bales are transported by train from Gujarat, down to Tamil Nadu in southern India for spinning and stitching. The spinning is done by MLR Mills, which has certifications for good working environment and also GOTS 2 certification

The yarn is sent for stitching to Classic Clothing Company, which is located in the same area as the spinning company. The fabric is dyed black and white at Colorsburg dyeing unit

The fabric is transported by boat to our own factory in Sri Lanka, where our garments are sown. The workers salaries are based on actual living costs in Sri Lanka, and are therefore around three times higher than the national minimum wage. The salary is also paid regularly and on time, which is unusual in the conventional textile industry. The working tasks rotate and working hours are reasonable
